On a wet and windy night on the moors, the Lambs scored all their goals in the first half with newly appointed captain Ed Harrison opening the scoring and new striker Owen Pritchard bagging a brace.
Parkway were asked questions by their manager, Lee Hobbs, at the interval – and were much improved after the break. But they lacked the quality needed to break down Tavi’s well-drilled backline.
The win is the latest in a line of impressive results for Henderson’s side, who also drew 0-0 with Championship side Huddersfield Town earlier this summer. But while the signs are good ahead of their Southern League South campaign, Henderson – who was flying back from a summer holiday and left the running of the team to Calum Davenport – is not getting carried away by his young side.
“It’s pre-season and results don’t count for anything, but performances do,” Henderson said. “We have signed new players and they have integrated well into the squad, we worked on a few things in preseason and we are looking fit and organised, which will hopefully hold us in good stead for when we start the season.
