High cost of cafe feeding homeless

A PLYMOUTH cafe that helps feed the homeless and vulnerable is spending a whopping £20,000 a year on bills, just to keep afloat. Hope for the Homeless aims to raise £10,000 to continue The Garage Cafe's service.

Based on Union Street, The Garage Cafe feeds many homeless people, including veterans from the armed forces. But in these challenging times, when many people are struggling, there's a risk that the homeless project won't be able to stay open- unless they raise much needed funds.

The project feeds between 50 and 80 people a day, helping vulnerable people and anybody in the community that needs food, clothes or bedding. Last week, the cafe - which serves hot food, drinks, cakes and provides clothing, toiletries and dog food - served over 400 meals to people in need.
