Buddhist master Chamtrul Rinpoche resides in the mountains of North India, but a recent annual global tour brought him to Plymouth. The 62-year-old monk was adamant that inner peace comes from within – and nothing in the outside world can help much with keeping you calm.
The Tibetan monk held workshops in the city – and also shared his pearls of wisdom with The Herald. He explained that for a happier existence the advice is to be less jealous, less ignorant, less arrogant and less angry.
He said: “Most people usually try to find peace from outside. But the root of the peace is very much from heart, from the mind and understanding yourself. You can become too distracted emotionally by experiencing desire, anger, ignorance, jealousy, hatred, harmful thoughts which in turn harm the mind.
