Lancaster checks out 170 in win for Weston

THE immovable object that is Ralph Lancaster helped himself to a top-of-the-shop 170 finish in the Plymouth Open League Division A.

That effort from the veteran, whose career spans across seven decades, came in a 7-4 win for Weston Mill Oak Villa over Fortescue, who themselves had Jordan Angear firing the game's only maximum.

The St Johnston derby match between the A and B teams ended in a 7-4 success for the latter, whilst Liam Donovan ploughed in a tidy 80 checkout in another 7-4 sucess with Prince Maurice beating Mainstone B.

Richard Wheatley's brilliant 150 checkout and 13-darter during a 9-2 win for Lugger A over Ker St C had to settle for second place in the week's high checkout standings in the league.

Wheatley also showed his scoring prowess when matching the 180 scored by team-mate Alex Truscott to give the Devonport team a double of highest possible scores.

Pennycross took a 9-2 win from their trip to Stoke Inn, whilst Falstaff A bettered the Ker St A by the exact same scoreline.

Neil White's 90 checkout was the biggest of an 11-0 win for Victory at Weston Mill; a win that puts them top of the pile on 20 points from a possible 22.

A 99 checkout from Chris Baker in Ker St B's 7-4 success over Falstaff B was the top checkout from all players in the Division B, whilst Lugger B claimed second win from as many starts with a 10-1 triumph over Ker St D.

Babs Pawley was the hero for Legends Lounge as she picked up a 2-0 win in the final rubber of a 6-5 win over King Billy A that was tied at 5-5 when she toed the oche for the first time in her singles.

Sid Hurrell's 13-darter provided a catalyst for Mainstone A to claim a 6-5 first win of the season over Prince Maurice FC; a game that was won on the last game by team-mate Roy Osgood.
