A CHINESE restaurant has moved into one of Plymouth’s most historic buildings which contains a medieval well - and a ghost.
The Asian Noodle Bar has relocated from Sutton Harbour, where it was tucked away behind and above the Lost in Rio Brazilian eatery, to a new home in a very old building.
The restaurant can now be found inside an 18th Century building in Buckwell Street, which contains the famous centuries old Buck Well from which the road gets its name. It is also famous for being haunted, with spooky happenings being reported for decades.
Previous tenants of the three-storey building have spoken of spectral footsteps being heard going up and down the stairs. But Asian Noodle Bar boss Peggy Hoon Hung doesn’t expect customers to be bothered by any phantasmal misbehaviour and has no fear of phantoms.
“It’s haunted upstairs,” she said. “I think Plymouth is a ghost city, so I believe in them. But we are nice people, and if you are nice ghosts won’t hurt you.”
