Nursery 'chaotic and disorganised' - Ofsted

A NURSERY has been branded “chaotic and disorganised” by the education watchdog – but bosses have hit back and say claims a child was ‘cut’ on a broken toy are ‘untrue’.

Ladybirds Day Nursery, in Brixton, was rated ‘inadequate’ in every category when it was inspected in on May 23.

The report, published by Ofsed on Wednesday, highlights a number of major concerns at the setting, including the pre-school room being “chaotic and disorganised” at times and child supervision being described as “poor”.

Despite raising concerns, Ofsted also praised management for building strong relationships and found parents “speak highly about the warmth of the staff”. The inspector also praised the toddler and baby room stating it was a “happy and secure” environment with “attentive and nurturing staff”.

However, one of the main issues Ofsted raised in the report was due to safety, with Ofsted stating staff fail to carry out thorough risk assessments of the environment. Part of the report states: “The management team has failed to ensure that staff know how to identify hazards and minimise risks to children.
