A PLYMOUTH primary school with serious weaknesses has been praised by Ofsted after a recent visit – but more work still needs to be done to bring the school up to the education watchdog’s expected standards.
Hyde Park Infants’ School was last visited by the education watchdog on May 7, 2023, as part of a monitoring visit, following a graded inspection that took place in November 2021. The November inspection found the school was ‘inadequate’ and had ‘serious weaknesses’. Prior to the 2021 inspection, it had not been rated for 15 years, after receiving an ‘outstanding’ rating in 2007.
At the most recent visit, Ofsted found Hyde Park Infants’ School remains inadequate and has serious weaknesses, and while progress has been made to improve the school, “more work is necessary for the category of concern to be removed”.
The Ofsted inspector praised the school for linking with the junior school and “working more closely as a cohesive team to share best practice”, as well as more training being provided for staff in Reception.
