WHEN Ben Waine completed his move to Plymouth Argyle on January 1 this year it was apparent the striker had been signed as one for the future.
Now, 10 months on and with Ryan Hardie and Mustapha Bundu both suffering hamstring injuries during the defeat away to Ipswich Town on Saturday, opportunity knocks for Waine.
There was always going to be a period of adjustment for him when at the age of just 21 he made the round-the-world move from New Zealand to England. Had he made an immediate impact for the Pilgrims that would have been a bonus.
Surprisingly, after only a few weeks in this country, Waine was given his full league debut in the top-of-the-table League One away clash against Sheffield Wednesday in front of more than 33,000 fans at Hillsborough.
