SALISBURY FC - 2
PLYMOUTH PARKWAY - 1
Second-placed Salisbury had lost only one of their 12 league games, having conceded just nine goals, but Parkway – unbeaten themselves in four matches - gave as good as they got once again against one of the top teams in the division.
Parkway named an unchanged starting XI from Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Basingstoke Town with recent new signing Cameron Sangster named among the substitutes and the game started in driving rain with the hosts making the brighter start.
However, Parkway created the first after good link play along the left between Jack Crago, Tom Purrington and Callum Hall, which led to Crago shooting narrowly wide from a tight angle.
Aaron McCreadie cleared off the line from a Reece Thomson shot and Oscar Halls headed narrowly over from the resultant corner. But Salisbury weathered the early Parkway pressure and could have taken the lead from the penalty spot on 12 minutes. A strong, mazy run from deep by Josh Hedges into the 18-yard area was illegally halted by Halls, who was cautioned for his challenge. But Sido Jombati’s weak penalty trickled just wide of Adam Parkes’ right-hand post.
