Parts of city 'could be underwater' by 2090

LARGE parts of Britain's Ocean City could be underwater by 2090 due to rising sea levels, researchers claim.

The dockyard, Stonehouse, Sutton Harbour and even the McDonald's at Marsh Mills could be washed away if their predictions are correct.

As climate change continues to worsen, it has been found in a study that unless pollution levels improve, a large proportion of Plymouth could see a massive change with water levels rising, taking residential homes, business and key infrastructure with it.

A Climate Central map show swathes of Plymouth expected to fall below the water line. Anywhere that's within a relatively short distance of the River Tamar and River Plym will be submerged, according to predictions.

This interactive map shows those areas most at threat. Globally they predict that by 2100, areas now home to 200 million people could fall permanently below the high tide line.
