Pilgrims strike late on to salvage a point in match they could not lose

PLYMOUTH Argyle avoided a sixth successive Home Park defeat as they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers after an 85th minute own goal from Albert Adomah.

The relegation-threatened Pilgrims had fallen behind to a 73rd minute close range finish from Rangers' midfielder Sam Field and the visitors from west London seemed to be on course for a win which would virtually assured their Championship survival.

However, there was late drama when QPR failed to deal with a corner and the ball rebounded into the net off Adomah as he was put under pressure by substitute Albert Adomah.

That was Argyle's first goal in their last six home league games and while a point was not the outcome they would have hoped for, it could yet be important in the relegation battle.

The Pilgrims' starting line-up against QPR was the same as from the 1-0 win away to Rotherham United last Friday, with midfielder Jordan Houghton making his 150th appearance for the club.

There was one change on the bench with Alfie Devine returning from a one-match suspension as he replaced Lino Sousa among the substitutes.

Dan Scarr retained his place in the centre of Argyle's defensive trio, which meant he was up against QPR's powerful Scotland international Lyndon Dykes.

Scarr was sent-off in the first half of the Pilgrims' 0-0 draw away to Rangers in December for a foul on Ilias Chair and had to serve a three-match ban as a result.

There was an early moment of alarm for Scarr when he was almost caught in possession when Argyle tried to play out of defence and his rushed back pass to Michael Cooper was not the best but the keeper was able to clear his lines.
