PLANS to move six trees that survived the Plymouth city centre felling could mean they end up dying, protesters say.
The group Save the Trees of Armada Way (Straw) has said the proposed “translocation” of the trees, as part of the revised £12.7 million plan, poses a risk to the “40-year-old” trees, and added: “They are likely to die.”
The group, which fought a legal batt le to stop further felling, after 110 trees were chopped down in March, said Plymouth City Council’s proposal to shift the trees after the brouhaha over the initial cull was “like Groundhog Day” – a reference to the 1993 movie in which the same thing happens repeatedly.
