SIMON Hallett believes Luton Town are a great example for Plymouth Argyle as they set out on their new five-year mission to become a top six Championship club with Premier League aspirations.
Luton have made it into the top flight of English football without vast financial resources and playing at a stadium with a capacity of around 11,000 and Hallett highlighted they were data-oriented and made good decisions, which are traits of Argyle too.
With six points from 11 games, following on from a 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool on Sunday the Bedford-shire club are even one place outside the relegation positions.
Asked if the rise of Luton into the Premier League gave him hope that Argyle could make it in the future, Hallett told Herald Sport: “Yes, absolutely it does. Coventry last year. Any of those teams that you kind of raise your eyebrows in surprise and delight that they are playing in the (Championship) play-offs.
“Top six is very carefully worded. It’s not top two. If you want to compete in the top two you have got to be losing whatever it is, £50-60m a year. We are not going to do that.
“We would accept losing money if we had it lined up. We lost money last year - we will come out with our annual report pretty soon - but we had the money to fund it so the balance sheet remains strong.
