THE RNLI is urging people visiting the coast ahead of the peak summer season to be aware of strong rip currents, weather, and tide conditions after a series of rescues in the last week. Lifeguards have saved the life of at least three people caught in rip currents and rescued many more in the last week alone.
Two of the casualties who were pulled furthest out to sea after an incident at Tregantle beach on Sunday were very close to drowning. On Thursday, a man’s life was saved at Sharrow beach after he swam out beyond the red and yellow flags and into a rip current.
