Sorinola lined up at left wing-back in the FA Cup fourth round replay against Leeds United at Home Park on Tuesday night after a couple of short appearances as a substitute in the previous two games. It was his first start in almost 11 months since he played for Swansea City in a 3-1 home Championship defeat by Middlesbrough last March.
The 22-year-old was on loan to Swansea from Union St Gilloise at the time, and he ended up leaving the Belgian Pro League club by mutual consent in late December after not playing for them this season. He then joined Argyle as a free agent on January 17.
Sorinola can play as a wing-back on either side of the pitch but lined up on the left against Leeds and had an excellent one-on-one battle with United's highly-rated 20-year-old Italy international Willy Gnonto.
Fatigue, after playing so little football this season, was inevitable, especially on a rain-soaked pitch, but Sorinola lasted for 78 minutes before he was substituted.
Foster said: "I was really pleased with him, he gives us another dimension.
He has got 70-odd minutes into his legs, which is brilliant, for him and us.
