Taylor was also one of three men to claim 18-dart legs in their singles with one other coming against him in a 3-1 success.

Dan Hurley checked the other in the final rubber of the night that went down to a last leg shoot-out as Ryan Harris’ 15-darter proved decisive in deciding the outcome of the match.

Two more men made it to double figures in tons with Scott Lawrey and Dale Halford hitting ten a-piece, whilst Taylor joined team-mate Tony Conn in providing the game’s two maximums.

Jack McMinn top scored with 14 ton-plusses but still found his Bluebird A team on the wrong side of an 8-3 defeat to King Billy.

Scott Wapshott led the charge for the victors with 12 three-figure scores; a total that contained two maximums.

Andrew Cook smashed in the match’s other 180, which was joined by one of Wapshott’s efforts in a 22-dart 801 trebles leg for Cook, Wapshott and team-mate Kev Lofthouse.

Lofthouse helped himself to a 100 checkout that was beaten three times with a 109 from McMinn and a 133 from Alan Masters, usurping Lofthouse’s more than admirable visit.

The sharp finishing didn’t end there with McMinn checking a leg in 16 during his 3-2 defeat to Wapshott and Masters winning a leg in 18 in a 3-0 win.

Antony Hayman (30.06) blew all of that out of the water with a fine 3-0 win in which two of the three legs were put away in 14 and 16 darts.

Glenn Austin was the main protagonist with 13 tons for Bluebird C, who recovered from 4-2 down to win 6-5 on the last tie of the match.

Tony Teal bested Dave Hollow 3-2 with a 14-darter with his opponent finishing on 11 tons; one less than team-mate Nathan Langdon.
