Thief stole from man who'd just lost his wife

A PLYMOUTH man has been jailed after detectives travelled to London to ensure his victim got back treasured items, including a stolen iPad which contained pictures of his recently deceased wife.

The burglar who stole the iPad – along with the widower’s car, jacket, hat, sunglasses and even a charity box collecting money for children who suffer from Crohns and colitis – was put behind bars thanks to evidence secured by detectives from a specialist Plymouth police team.

Trevor Glover, aged 47 and of no fixed abode in Plymouth, pleaded guilty to a slew of offences at Plymouth Crown Court after prosecutors outlined the case. Glover was identified as being a suspect in a series of burglaries and thefts of vehicles and, as part of the inquiries, detectives from Plymouth’s Priority Crime Investigation Team travelled to London to secure evidence needed to secure a guilty plea from the prolific thief.

Glover eventually pleaded guilty to a burglary of a Plymouth address, fraud by false representation and theft of a motor vehicle, all in May of this year.
