THEY have been serving delicious vegan food for nearly five years, but now the team behind the award-winning Hedgerow Hound have finally found a permanent home.
The family-run operation has opened the Hedgerow Café in Plymouth Market. It means the plant-based business can put down roots, after moving between locations and popping up at festivals and events.
The café is open and serving seasonal brunches, tacos, pancakes, toasties, soup, sandwiches, and even sang tao bahn mi – a Vietnamese-style tofu dish.
There are drinks too, including teas, kombuchas, and coffees from the Devon Coffee Company, and shakes – all made with, of course, oat and soya milks – and a high tea with a selection of scones, including vegan cheese and Black Forest style, and cakes too.
“We make everything ourselves,” said Lily Thomson, director and chef. “We started Hedgerow Hound to do street food at events and weddings four years ago, and are well known throughout the city, but a café is something we have wanted for a long time.”
