PLYMOUTH’S newest plant-based restaurant has opened and is already attracting vegans – and non-vegans.
The Veg Patch has begun serving diners in a Mutley Plain unit which was once a Costa.
Chef Ash Hough, who has expanded from a smaller operation in Plymouth Market, said opening the new restaurant was a dream come true. He said: “I thought: ‘I’ve actually done it’. When the sign went up, and we opened, it was pretty cool, a bit emotional.”
The Veg Patch opened earlier this month and has got off to a good start, particularly with people popping in for coffee and cakes, all made fresh on the premises daily by NOM Bakery. It is open every day from 9am to 10pm and so far breakfasts and lunches are outselling evening meals, but Ash accepts it is early days.
