Youngsters set to shine at ceremony

Launched by YMCA Plymouth, the awards, sponsored by Westcotts, will be presented in 16 categories recognising young people up to the age of 18, who are making a positive impact in their communities. The awards ceremony will be held at the Crowne Plaza tomorrow.

In the run-up to the awards, The Herald has been showcasing the nominees. Today we profile three more categories...

Sportsperson of the Year, sponsored by Plymouth Argyle: OLIVER HEATH

Oliver had an impressive start in junior British Diving, securing two medals at the recent European Junior Championships in Croatia, including his first international title. Representing Plymouth Diving Club, he clinched gold in the Boys B 1m Springboard with a decisive final dive, followed by silver in the Boys B 3m Springboard event, showcasing his skill and composure on debut. Oliver also competed against senior divers in Elite competitions, earning medals throughout the year and earning a nomination for Breakthrough Diving Athlete of the Year at the British Diving Awards.

OLIVIA EADIE

Olivia has been part of Plymouth Fencing Club since the age of nine. She’s currently ranked as the top GBR fencer under 17 and competes for the GB team. Olivia’s achievements include being chosen to represent GB at the Cadet and Junior European Championships in February, the Cadet and Junior World Fencing Championships in Riyadh in April, and representing England at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in New Zealand in July. A true role model for young girls in the city, Olivia dedicates herself to training five days a week and regularly competes, often travelling abroad for competitions at weekends.
