Youngsters show their quality at Life centre

PLYMOUTH PLAYS HOST TO THE REGIONAL SKILLS COMPETITION

LAST weekend provided a major opportunity for the latest batch of Plymouth Skills divers to test themselves in their first ever competition and it was a chance for the more experienced divers to showcase their talents.

The South West Regional Skills competition was held at the Life Centre and saw 25 divers competing and trying to qualify for the National Skills Finals, which will take place in Leeds on July 15 and 16.

This year’s event featured five divers in the youngest age category which sees divers aged eight and nine. In the boy’s event, Leighton Mossford won gold with some fantastic dives and in the process qualified for the finals.

The girls event saw four Plymouth divers going head-to-head and they all produced some excellent dives. It was a very close competition with the lead changing hands throughout, but it was Phoebe-Mae Evans who finished with the gold medal. She was closely followed by Bethany Hockaday, who took silver, Ivy-Mae Davey in bronze and Honor-Grace Kelly in fouth place. Amazingly they all achieved the finals qualifying score with ease.
