Cyclone Dana: Flooding damages crop fields in Balasore, Mayurbhanj

RESIDENTS of low-lying areas expressed their discontentment as they did not save their vegetable and paddy being grown on their fields as the water due to incessant rain over the last 48 hours after the depression of cyclone Dana created waterlogging most of their fields from Saturday morning.

The major river systems of both districts gradually raised their water level for a couple of days after the depression of the cyclone that hit Odisha and heavy to heavy rainfall recorded in both districts.

The water level in river Jalaka started rising at Mathani in Basta block of Balasore district when its present level was 4.45 meters against the danger level at 6.50, and hectares of farmlands were being submerged due to water received from the river.
