BREAKING with the modern trend, many youth have started visiting traditional gyms known as 'vyayam shalas' or 'garadimanis' across Gadag district.
The garadimanis have been drawing more numbers of youth since the last two months.
Such a surge in the number of youngsters is normally seen ahead of winter every year.
The general belief is that the idea of staying fit during winter attracts the youth to these traditional gyms.
Last year, the garadimani in Gadag town had 11 members in November, which has now increased to 21 members this year.
While Lakkundi's garadimani has nine new members, Hatalageri's garadimani has six, Jakkali village's garadimani has 12, and the vyayam shalas in rural areas are also drawing youth in large numbers.
