BURDEN of family planning is already on women as men believe that only women should handle contraception. But a sizable number of impregnated women in Udupi district are reeling from failed tubectomy.
This year (2024) five women in the district have become pregnant even after undergoing sterilization operations at various government hospitals.
Affected women from various parts of the district, who are primarily from economically weaker sections, now struggle with unexpected pregnancies. They had opted to limit their family size, but ended up falling prey to medical deficiencies.
