THE BJP has outlined its plan to elect a new party president, with the current chief, Jagat Prakash Nadda, set to continue in his role until the end of 2024.
The party's constitution mandates a detailed electoral process that will conclude with the appointment of a new president by December 2024.
A senior BJP leader said the party would initiate a nationwide membership drive starting August 1 that will run until September 15. This will be followed by a second phase aimed at encouraging active membership from September 16 to 30.
The process of verification of these memberships will take place from October 1 to 15.
As per party norms, the process of renewing memberships, including those of high-ranking members such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is conducted every nine years.
