According to police sources, a case vide Sec K2 Case No 216 dated 25.12.2024 U/S 111(2)(b)/61(2)/319(2)/338/336(3)/336(4)/340/318(4)/308(6) of BNS, 2023 on the basis of letter of complaint of one Ananda Dutta, aged about 64 years, S/O-Late Bimalendu Dutta, residing at 108 Shib Mandir Road, ward 4, in Kalna police station area, Burdwan (East) against the user of Whatsapp No. 9073084742 having the DP of Abhishek Banerjee, and others who being the members of a syndicate of an organised crime, on and before 16:39 Hrs, Dt-24/12/24 and afterwards, allegedly to be entered into a criminal conspiracy and in pursuant to that dishonestly induced the complainant by impersonating himself as one of the high functionaries of Hon'ble MP Office, at 9 Camac Street on the false pretext of providing assorted facilities by applying political influence demanding Rs five lakh as part payment and also convinced the complainant by showing various forged documents thereby committed extortion and cheating by impersonation and forgery in an organized way.Investigation into the case is on progress.During investigation police officers of Shakespeare Sarani PS, accompanied by chairman Kalna Municipality went to meet the person at MLA Hostel and then arrested the following persons, namely Junayedul Haque Chowdhury (33) of village Dhapdhara in Hooghly district; Subhadip Malik (24) of Tarakeswar, Hooghly and Sk Taslim (38) of Park Street, Kolkata.According to reports the guest room (No. 417) from where the three were arrested was allegedly booked by BJP MLA Nikhil Ranjan Dey of Cooch Behar.Earlier in August, a Trinamul Congress leader was arrested from New Town who used to forge the letterhead of Abhishek Banerjee.According to police, a complaint was filed against Kaushik Sarkar, alleging that he collected crores of rupees using a fake letterhead in the name of Abhishek Banerjee.
