Speaking to the reporters at Kalijhora on the bank of Teesta in West Bengal Dr Bose, terming the disaster as very unfortunate, said: “Accidents are not accidentally. Disasters are occurring in many places but one of the major reasons is destruction of ecology. In the name of development we have gone to destroy ecology. As a result nature has become violence. Specific studies on the rivers are to be done to find out a solution.”
It may be noted that Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose today arrived in Bagdogra Airport and started visiting the flush flood hit areas either the side of the river Teesta from the Hill to plains especially a rehabilitation and relief camp at Rangdhamali in Jalpaiguri today.
As Dr Bose started interacting with the victims in the relief camp there they informed the Governor about their helplessness after flush flood in the river Teesta broke its banks and washed away their houses.
