TMC candidate pours ink and water in ballots after losing at Dinhata

Even as the Trinamul Congress is retaining power in majority in Panchayats and Zilla Parishads in North Bengal from Cooch Behar to Malda, a TMC candidate, having failed to beat BJP candidate, poured ink and water on ballot papers and damaged them in counting hall at Dinhata in Cooch Beher today.

TMC candidate contested Gram Panchayat polls from a Gram Sansad at Falimari. Notably, a BJP agent was shot dead by miscreants on 8 July when polling started there.

On the other hand, a woman BJP candidate, who could not win in a Gram Panchayat seat, hugged Cooch Beher MP Nisith Pramanik’s feet and started crying, urging him to save her family and house. 

The woman informed MP that she had received threats from ruling party activists. She was apprehending that TMC backed miscreants would attack her house and ever her daughter.

“No body will attack you” MP Mr Pramanik ensured her. Despite political violence that went against ruling party candidates, TMC won majority seats and Gram Panchayats in Dinhata and other blocks in Cooch Beher district.
