Along with Atiq Ahmed's third son Asad, a gunman identified as Ghulam was also killed in the encounter in the Paricha area of Jhansi on Thursday afternoon. Police earlier announced Rs 5 lakh award on the heads of both of these criminals. Atiq Ahmed, who was brought to Prayagraj today for a hearing for remand in the Umesh Pal murder case along with his brother Afzal, fainted in the courtroom after hearing of the death of his son.
Later the court allowed 7 days police remand for both Atiq and Afzal in the Umesh Pal murder case.
Heavy sloganeering against Atiq by lawyers outside the CGM court was witnessed when they was produced before the court. Someone also threw a shoe at Atiq but it did not hit him.
