£1M TAXPAYER CASH FOR BORIS LAWYERS

TAXPAYERS will fork out more than £1million for Boris Johnson's new lawyers after he axed a Governmentprovided legal team defending him at the Covid inquiry.

Labour said it was "outrageous" hardworking Brits will still pay the ex-PM's legal bill while he "rakes in millions from globe-trotting speaking gigs".

Mr Johnson cut ties with the law firm hired by the Cabinet Office after details from his diaries were passed to police probing alleged lockdown rule-breaking at Downing Street and Chequers.

Speaking in Washington DC yesterday, Mr Johnson said the allegations were "a load of absolute nonsense".
