BAKED Britain could see a record 41C high on Tuesday - putting hospitals and transport networks on red alert.

The Met Office has issued its first "danger to life" health alert for extreme heat across much of the country for the next two days.

It covers huge swathes of England, from London up to Manchester, and to the Vale of York. The Met Office gave an 80% chance of the 37.8C UK record (101.7F), set in 2019, falling.

People flocked to the coast and parks in their tens of thousands yesterday, as temperatures hit 27C in London and 26C in Cardiff.
