LANDO NORRIS took a damaging hit to his title dreams in a miserable qualifying session for today's Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Now he must cut through the pack from 16th on the grid if he is to avoid losing ground on Max Verstappen.

But the Briton, 24, is not confident he can pull off something so special in Baku.

He said: "We will hope for the best but I don't expect anything magical unless strategy comes into play.

"We will try to go forwards and overtake, but it's not as simple as saying it.

"The car is quick. I hope that can play into our hands and at some point I can get clean air.

"But on a street circuit everything gets backed up so much you kind of get forced into a position and you can't do a lot at times."
