SALE boss Alex Sanderson hailed his Sharks as they booked a first home Premiership semi-final since 2006.

They weathered the storm and survived yellow cards for Tom Curry and Manu Tuilagi to secure a date probably with Leicester - in three weeks' time.

Sharks led by seven points at the break but were rocking in the second half before tries from Jono Ross and Sam James got them home.

And Sanderson reckons this was a better test of his side's mettle than a walk in the park, as they showed true northern grit.

He said: "I am drained but I am inspired by this special group I get to work with.
