Lulu Sun Today v Emma Raducanu
EMMA RADUCANU pulled out of her mixed doubles date with Andy Murray to preserve her Wimbledon singles dream.
Hours before her much-anticipated alliance with the double Olympic champion, which would have paired Britain's highest-profile players on Court No.1 as a primetime bonus after the football, Raducanu withdrew because of stiffness in her right wrist.
So Murray's defeat with brother Jamie in the men's doubles on Thursday evening will now be his last Wimbledon appearance, with tournament rules preventing him from recoupling with a different partner in the mixed foursomes. Raducanu, whose career had already been blighted by a wrist injury requiring surgery, reluctantly decided she could not afford to risk her singles campaign.
She had pitched up for practice at the All England Club sporting a patriotic England shirt in support of the Three Lions ahead of their Euro 2024 quarter-final with Switzerland.
