A day after a group of TRS members vandalised Nizamabad BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind's residence, Banjara Hills police on Saturday arrested nine party workers and later produced them before a magistrate.
The court released them by granting bail to them.
Police slapped charges of tresspass, intimidation, damage to property and manhandling on the accused. However, the magistrate granted bail to all of them.
Surprisingly, police said they had no clue about the TRS workers swooping down on the MP's residence since they were busy organising bandobust for CM K Chandrasekhar Rao's wife K Shobha's visit to a temple.
"We had absolutely no clue about these people organising themselves into a mob and then reaching the MP's house. If we have even the slightest of hints, we do not take any chance. If we know that there could be a protest at a public representative's house, we deploy at least a platoon," a senior police official told STOI.
This assertion comes in the wake of senior BJP leaders, including party chief Bandi Sanjay, accusing police of inaction in controlling the mob when they ransacked the MP's house in Banjara Hills.
