<p><strong>Hyderabad:&nbsp;</strong>The final rites of veteran Tollywood actor Ghattamaneni Krishna were performed with state honours at Mahaprasthanam in Film Nagar on Wednesday.</p>

<p id="2">A crowd of people thronged at Padmalaya studios, where the body of the 79-year-old actor was kept for public viewing in the morning for a final dekko of their superstar.</p>
<p id="3">Later, a procession travelled from Padmalaya studios to Mahaprasthanam where the final rites were performed.</p>
<p id="4">The veteran actor passed away on Tuesday, following a heart attack the previous day. Following the instruction from chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who visited the family on Tuesday, the funeral was conducted with state honours.</p>
<p id="5">Among the many dignitaries who turned up at Padmalaya were Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Jagan paid homage to the actor and conveyed his condolences to his son superstar Mahesh Babu and the rest of the family. Several politicians and members of the film industry also turned up to pay their respects to Krishna.</p>

<p id="2">The Telugu film industry, meanwhile, observed a holiday on Wednesday as a mark of respect to the actor who was associated with the industry for 57 long years.</p>
<p id="3">He led from the front especially when it came to embracing new technologies and introducing new genres of films in the Telugu film industry.</p>
