<p id="1"><strong>Mumbai: </strong>Shiv Sena (UBT) party chief Uddhav Thackeray said he did not agree with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi&rsquo;s views on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar but also questioned the BJP for not awarding the Hindutva icon the Bharat Ratna despite being in power for eight years.</p>
<p id="2">&ldquo;We don&rsquo;t agree with what Rahul Gandhi has said. What has been said (by him) is wrong. We have immense love and respect for Savarkar. But not just Congress, to save the freedom for which Savarkar sacrificed, we are all coming together,&rdquo; Thackeray said.</p>
<p>On Tuesday, comparing the martyrdom of tribal leader Birsa Munda with Savarkar, Rahul said while the latter, who is an icon of the BJP and RSS, wrote letters and mercy petitions to the British, even offering to work with them, Congress idolised Munda, who preferred death to uphold the cause of the tribals and the country, but refused to be won over by the British and did not give up his self respect despite inducements of land and money.</p>

<p>Thackeray's comments are significant as the Sena is a part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) with the Congress and NCP, a coalition which was in power for 2.5 years in the state. Earlier this week, Uddhav's son Aaditya took part in Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra.</p>

<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m saying it very clearly and strongly, we have immense love and respect for Swatantrayaveer Savarkar. This can&rsquo;t be wiped off no matter how hard people try. But those who kept away from the freedom struggle and have no connection to it, followers of such organisations claiming to love Savarkar is laughable. Where were they then? The RSS existed, but they were away from the freedom struggle, so they don&rsquo;t have any right to speak on Savarkar and they must not try too,&rdquo; Thackeray said. He was speaking at an event to mark the death anniversary of Sena founder late Bal Thackeray.</p>
<p><strong>Savarkar kin to file complaint against Rahul</strong></p>

<p id="1">Ranjit Savarkar, the grandson of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar,will file a complaint at Shivaji Park Police Station in Mumbai against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for "insulting" Veer Savarkar.</p>
<p id="2">Savarkar talking to ANI said, "It is not the first time Rahul Gandhi and Congress have insulted Savarkar, in the past, they have insulted Savarkar, so I have decided to file a complaint against Rahul Gandhi at Shivaji Park police station."</p>
<p id="3">"I will file a complaint for insulting our leader freedom fighter, Rahul Gandhi is a serial offender in the past in 2017 also he did the same thing," Ranjit Sarvarkar also added, "Congress is trying to play vote bank politics and uses the same agenda of insulting Veer Savarkar," he concluded.&nbsp;</p>
