Musk reinstates Trump's Twitter account after poll

Washington: The social media platform Twitter went into overdrive over the weekend amid its own internal crisis after the new CEO Elon Musk reinstated former President Donald Trump's account that was suspended for spreading lies and disinformation, and igniting the January 6 insurrection.

Musk held a sketchy online poll in which some 15 million handles voted by a roughly 5248% favouring Trump's return. "The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei," Musk tweeted on Saturday, triggering jubilation among Trump supporters and outrage from critics. Trump himself had not tweeted till Sunday morning, sticking to his platform Truth Social that he started after being turfed out of Twitter.
