Ex-Sena corporator probe: Cops now seek clarifications from RoC

With police seeking more details to file a case, the investigation against former Shiv Sena corporator Yashwant Jadhav, who is accused of tax evasion and ownership of benami properties, is at a sensitive stage.

Mumbai police have sought clarifications from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) on their findings against the BMC veteran who has switched loyalties to the Eknath Shinde camp.

The RoC, a central government agency which registers companies, had filed a written complaint in April 2021 against Jadhav at Marine Drive police station. The RoC sought an FIR against Jadhav and others for registering four companies by providing fraudulent details. Jadhav was chairman of the BMC's influential Standing Committee from 2018 till March 2022 and, according to the RoC’s complaint, he allegedly brought Rs 15 crore in tainted money into banking channels during this period through companies set up using fake data.
