New Delhi: Amid an elaborate police bandobast and a security ring thrown around the Enforcement Directorate's headquarters here in response to Congress' protests against summons to Rahul Gandhi, officials questioned the Congress MP for about 11 hours in connection with the money laundering probe into the National Herald case. He has been asked to join investigations at the ED office again on Tuesday morning.
Questioning began at 11am and during an hour-long lunch break, Rahul visited Sonia, who is being treated for Covid at Ganga Ram Hospital. The session resumed at 3.30pm and went on past 10.30pm.
Even as Rahul was being questioned, action unfolded outside with Congress alleging police high-handedness in dealing with protesting partymen.
Former Union minister P Chidambaram and party MP Pramod Tiwari said they suffered rib injuries. BJP hit back, alleging the protests were a "stunt" to distract from the Gandhis' corruption.
