Body In Bag: 22-Yr-Old Feigned Pregnancy To Pressure Parents

Father Says He Is Filled With Regret, Committed Crime In A Fit Of Rage

New Delhi/Agra: Four days after the discovery of the body of 22-year-old BCA student Aayushi in a red trolley bag near Raya on Yamuna Expressway, it has become clear that her father shot her dead minutes after she had falsely claimed she was pregnant in a bid to pressure her parents into accepting her “secret” marriage to a youth she knew since her schooldays. The post-mortem confirmed Aayushi wasn’t pregnant.

Late on Monday, the parents, Nitesh Kumar Yadav, 49, and Brajbala, 45, performed Aayushi’s last rites in Mathura amid police presence. Yadav told police he was torn with "deep regret" for killing his daughter and that he committed the crime "in a fit of rage".

Yadav and Brajbala were aggrieved by their daughter’s “independent style” of living and their relations only worsened when Aayushi disclosed earlier this month that she had married Chhatrapal Singh Gurjar, 24, last year. They had been resentful of their daughter choosing to stay away from home for days together, little knowing that she had already married the man they were opposed to on caste considerations.

According to police, Yadav visited Gurjar’s house earlier this month and ordered the youth to stay away from his daughter. Aayushi did not like this, and on the fateful day while arguing with her parents about her relationship, she claimed she had a stomach-ache probably because of her pregnancy.
