After two pandemic years, the festival returned to its full physical form and the excitement was palpable. &ldquo;We aim to make India a powerhouse of content creation, especially regional cinema, by scaling up regional festivals,&rdquo; said Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, at the inauguration, which saw Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura being felicitated with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award.&nbsp;

A number of Indian film celebrities were felicitated at the IFFI opening, including Paresh Rawal, Ajay Devgn, Suniel Shetty and veteran south scriptwriter Vijayendra Prasad. The IFFI Indian Film Personality of the Year Award was conferred on Chiranjeevi, though he could not be present at the event.

However, it was the performances that lit up the evening. Varun Dhawan danced to two sets &ndash; the first one honouring Indian soldiers, while for the next one, he climbed down from the stage and danced among the dignitaries and delegates. Apart from her own performance, Sara Ali Khan also did a fun quiz with hosts Aparshakti Khurana and Mrunal Thakur on her family tree. The event also saw live acts&nbsp;by actors Catherine Tresa, Ritabhari Chakraborty and Amrita Khanvilkar before a power-packed performance by Kartik Aaryan closed the memorable evening.
