The fashion designer Jonathan Anderson has a magic touch for turning mundane objects into whimsicaland viral-delights.

Take the pigeon clutch he made for his namesake brand JW Anderson two years ago, or a preview of summer 2025's tomato purse for Loewe, the luxury Spanish brand he has helmed for 11 years.

Anderson, 40, has brought this talent to the big screen as a costume designer for Luca Guadagnino's movies "Challengers" and "Queer." A simple gray T-shirt that he made for "Challengers," emblazoned with the phrase "I TOLD YA," became a social-media sensation, spawning copycats.

Anderson says he never works with social media in mind. "The minute you try to control it, it does not work," he said. "But I enjoy the process because there is learning in it. You can sense what people are wanting from life." Next, Anderson hopes to apply his talent for reinvention to himself and go on a "health bender." "I'm doing three days in Ireland and then I need to disappear under a rock to reconstruct myself," he said.

Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Anderson now lives in London and Paris. Here, he discusses his penchant for ice-rollers, collaborating with his friend Harry Styles and his favorite inexpensive boxers.

What time do you get up on Mondays, and what's the first thing you do after waking up?

Roughly between half 6 and 7. I like to be alone in the morning. I need to listen to as much news as possible because I try not to listen throughout the day.

I read an old interview where you said you have six espressos a day. Still true?

Probably more now. My goal for next year is to reset and be a health person.
