Today we’re heading to the outer edges of Weston-super-Mare, a Somerset seaside town that bustles with holidaymakers in the height of summer. It tends to be far quieter in the spring months, lending itself to landscape photography, which makes it a great time for joining analogue and digital hybrid photographer, Vince Lowe.
Vince is a film fanatic in every sense of the word, whether it’s shooting 35mm analogue stills or cinematic videos for YouTube camera reviews. Vince’s passion originates in filmmaking – he studied at Weston College’s Westcliff Campus, ironically just a stone’s throw away from today’s shooting location near the abandoned Birnbeck Pier, but recently has been more focused on creating cinematic stills. Owning several 35mm film cameras, Vince has opted to bring along a half-century-old Yashica Electro 35 GTN.
As we make our way down the steep and precarious stone steps along the walkway above the sea and rocks, Vince sets his backpack on the ground, pulls out his camera and a roll of film, and loads it into the Yashica.
