Unsolicited application of antibiotics leads to the development of resistance among bacterial population towards various antibiotics. This phenomenon is commonly known as "multi drug resistance (MDR)". All groups of infectious agents, including bacteria, have developed high levels of MDR and causes enhanced morbidity and mortality, hence, gained the name "superbugs".
