The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 saw India pip South Africa for the title in Barbados. It was a close contest on a good batting surface. And credit should go to the bowlers from both sides for the character shown. India managed 176/7 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli came out trumps after misfiring throughout the tournament. He smashed a solid 76 runs to bail India out from a position of bother (34/3). Solid performances from Axar Patel and Shivam Dube helped India get to 176. For South Africa, Anrich Nortje was the pick of the bowlers, with 2/26 from four overs.

South Africa lost early wickets in their chase, but Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs offered solidity. After that, it was Heinrich Klaassen’s brilliance that helped SA close in on victory. SA needed 30 runs from the last 30 balls. The Indian pacers got the job done in the final five overs. Hardik Pandya claimed 3/20 with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh firing. India won their 2nd T20 World Cup trophy. Throughout the tournament, several players stood up and delivered the goods. Here, we pick the finest XI of the game.

ROHIT SHARMA
