JUNE and we have the conundrum of the Derby at Epsom and what a puzzler it is this year. CITY OF TROY completely bombed out in the Guineas here on the Rowley Mile but I wouldn't write the horse off just yet as the son of Justify is out of a Galileo mare and may well be able to redeem his reputation over the Derby distance under Ryan Moore. Here at Newmarket in the Guineas he was over racing early and doing far too much too early. It is concerning though to see him fail so dismally and it is a long way back for him but he certainly is in the right hands to do it.
WHAT a lovely opportunity it is for Rob Havlin to have such a promising looking ride in the Derby aboard the Gredley family owned, James Fanshawe trained AMBIENTE FRIENDLEY. Rob has been such a loyal, hard-working rider at the Gosden yard over many years and really deserve this opportunity. It will give him and his wife Kelly and their children an exciting time whatever happen in the race. The Gredley family are fine supporters of racing and of Newmarket and it is so good for them too.
I hope you like this photo of my lovely Zuzanna, pictured on course here at Newmarket. She is looking forward to the meetings over on the summer course and particularly to Friday evening events with the entertainment after racing. We fully intend enjoying what hopefully will be some lovely warm sunny evenings full of good racing and fun for all who venture along and attend these events.
