Coach Romain Folz says age is just a number as he forges a career at AmaZulu.

'TAKE ME SERIOUSLY'

If he were donning playing kit on match day, many teams would be forgiven for mistaking baby-faced Romain Folz for one of the younger members of the opposition.

The 32-year-old coach, who was born in the southwestern French port city of Bordeaux, has been involved in coaching amateur teams in France since the tender age of 17.

He would later complete coaching courses in England, France and Spain, culminating in him acquiring his UEFA Pro Licence certificate, the highest coaching qualification in Europe.

Despite guiding Township Rollers to a runners-up finish in last season's Botswana Premier League, the young Frenchman's appointment as coach of Marumo Gallants in July came as a major surprise, particularly given his tender age.

Whenever he has been appointed to a new job, Folz has, not surprisingly, been confronted with questions about the impact his youth would have on relating to older players, so he has had lots of practice in delivering what has now become a standard reply.
