MICKEY: CREWE CAN MIX IT UP

The Railwaymen went into this weekend as the most potent side in English football, having netted more league goals than any other outfit in the top four divisions.

It’s a status few outside Gresty Road would have forecast at the start of this season with 28-year-old striker Chris Long the one player on Alex’s books to have ever hit double figures in an EFL campaign and, even then, he could only muster ten.

But, during last weekend’s 1-0 win at Harrogate, every outfield player in the starting XI had already netted this term.

Demetriou had contributed five goals from centre-back going into this weekend – just two short already of his best tally in a single season.

Assists

He’d also provided four assists, with the latest of three from long throws coming against the Sulphurites as Zac Williams’ header kept Alex fifth in the table.

The 33-year-old defender is quick to point out, however, that the team are far from one-dimensional.
