GRAHAM COUGHLAN jokes he’s glad to no longer be a Harry Hindsight in the stands after ending his five-month dug-out absence to return with Boston United.
“I’ll tell you when it does hit you and it does hurt you and that’s August 3 when the season kicks off and you’re idle,” the former Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury Town boss says.
“You’re sitting at home or you’re going to games. When you’re in the stands as an observer, all of a sudden, you become an absolute expert! ‘I wouldn’t do it this way, I would do that’.
“Then when you’re back in it’s, ‘Oh sugar’. Listen, it’s a game we love. It’s certainly changing and evolving, but it’s in my blood and I am just delighted to get back in with a good group of lads – that was important – a chairman (David Newton) and stakeholders with ambition, and a fanbase who get behind their team. They stick with the team.
“Those three things are very, very similar to what we inherited at Newport County.”
The 50-year-old has been waiting for the right opportunity since leaving the League Two Exiles back in June.
